Minecraft Oval Generator
Create an oval footprint from its outside width and row depth in blocks, then follow exact segments to build the curve.
How the Minecraft oval generator works
An oval uses separate horizontal and vertical radii. VoxelCurve rasterizes the ellipse onto a block grid, keeps it symmetric, then converts every occupied row into buildable segments.
Where ovals are useful
Ovals work well for stadiums, race tracks, halls, courtyards and elongated tower footprints. Start with the outside width and height of the space you want to occupy.
Thin, thick and filled ovals
Use a thin outline for walls, a thick outline for structural shells, or a filled ellipse for platforms and floors. Thickness grows inward so the outside footprint stays fixed.
How is this blueprint calculated?
The oval tool accepts outside width and height from 3 to 512 blocks independently. Both dimensions lie in the horizontal building plane: blueprint height is row depth in-game, not the height of a wall. A 31×21 input therefore describes a floor footprint 31 blocks wide and 21 blocks deep.
Ellipse sampling and narrow footprints
For width W and row depth H, cx = (W − 1) / 2, cz = (H − 1) / 2, rx = W / 2 and rz = H / 2. A filled cell satisfies ((x − cx) / rx)² + ((z − cz) / rz)² ≤ 1. Coordinates x and z are integer grid positions starting at zero.
Hollow styles subtract an inset ellipse but retain the exposed outer grid boundary. This prevents extreme proportions such as 100×20 from breaking into separate runs. Thin is a nominal one-block boundary; rasterization can produce wider spots on very narrow ovals. Boundary cells may connect diagonally as well as along edges.
Computed examples in blocks
| Outside dimensions | Thin blocks | Filled blocks |
|---|---|---|
| 21×13 | 56 | 217 |
| 31×21 | 76 | 511 |
| 100×20 | 200 | 1,576 |
What is included in the result?
Each occupied cell represents one block. Counts exclude scaffolding, temporary center markers and decorations; stack estimates use 64 blocks per stack. PNG and TXT are manual references for Java or Bedrock. A .litematic file is a schematic for compatible Java tools, not a WorldEdit .schem file or a Bedrock import.
The formulas describe VoxelCurve's grid convention, not a universal Minecraft circle standard. Review the geometry specification and calculation source for boundary handling. Consult the upstream Litematica project for compatible mod versions.

Useful oval footprints
These one-block outline presets are practical starting points for halls, arenas and elongated tower foundations.
Plan a Minecraft oval for an arena
Measure the full outside width and height before generating the footprint. A 31×21 oval leaves more room along one axis than a circle of the same width. Use Thin for the perimeter wall or Filled for the arena floor.
What happens when width and height are equal?
Equal dimensions produce a circle; unequal dimensions produce an elongated ellipse. If you searched for “oval generator Minecraft”, measure both outside dimensions of your arena before choosing the footprint.
How do I keep both sides symmetric?
An “oval Minecraft” layout needs one consistent center, just like a circle. Follow the paired row segments, start each run at the stated offset and include its first block in the length. Check the opposite side before advancing to the next row.
