How to Make a Circle in Minecraft

Mark the center, follow the row segments and mirror the pattern. Use the 11×11, 21×21 and 31×31 examples to learn the method before choosing a larger footprint.

What makes a Minecraft circle?

By VoxelCurve · Reviewed . The examples below are generated from VoxelCurve's current geometry, rather than copied from a separate chart.

A Minecraft circle approximates a curve using square blocks. Its outline consists of horizontal runs that get shorter or move inward as the curve turns. Matching the runs across the center creates a balanced shape; there is no single diagonal block that replaces the whole curve.

Odd vs. even sizes

An odd diameter, such as 11, 21 or 31, has one center block. An even diameter, such as 20, has a center gap between four blocks. Neither is better: choose the parity that fits your entrance, path or surrounding build. Keep that center convention throughout construction.

Choose the diameter

The diameter is the full outside width, including both edge blocks. A 21×21 circle fits inside a square 21 blocks wide and 21 blocks deep. Choose Thin for an outline, Thick for an inward-growing wall or Filled for a floor. Increasing thickness does not enlarge the footprint.

Find the center

For an 11×11 circle, mark the sixth block in each direction as the center. For 21×21, use the eleventh; for 31×31, use the sixteenth. This leaves 5, 10 or 15 blocks on each side. For a 20×20 footprint, mark the gap between columns 10 and 11 and between rows 10 and 11.

Mark four anchors

Mark the north, south, east and west extremes of the footprint. For a 21×21 odd circle, these are 10 blocks from the center, so the center plus both sides totals 21. For an even circle, use the blueprint's pair of center rows and columns rather than inventing one center block.

Understand rows and segments

Rows count from the top edge of the blueprint. A segment is one uninterrupted horizontal run. Place its first block at the stated center offset, then continue to the right for the stated length, including that first block. A gap is the number of empty columns between the end of one segment and the start of the next.

Example: “Start 6 blocks left of center · place 3 right” means start at that offset and place three blocks in total. It does not mean place a starting block plus three additional blocks.

Build one quarter

Start at an anchor and follow the runs toward the neighboring anchor. When a segment crosses the center line, use only the part that belongs to your quarter. Keep the center and anchor markers separate from the outline materials so temporary markers are easy to remove.

Mirror the pattern

Reflect the completed quarter horizontally and vertically around the marked center. Center blocks and center-line segments belong to both halves, so place them once. Alternatively, follow complete rows with VoxelCurve's guided navigator and let the paired segments establish the symmetry.

How to make a large circle in Minecraft

For a 31×31 or larger footprint, mark the center axes with temporary blocks and keep the tool open in Build Mode. Work by row or segment, mark progress after placement and use Undo immediately after a mistaken completion. Fit restores the full blueprint after panning or zooming. Material totals exclude temporary markers.

Common mistakes

  • Using radius as diameter: measure the entire outside width.
  • Moving an even circle onto one center block: keep the four-block center gap.
  • Adding a starting block to the stated segment length: the first block is already included.
  • Counting the gap from a segment's start: count empty columns after its last block.
  • Duplicating blocks on a mirrored center line: overlapping center positions are placed once.
  • Sharing a link to transfer progress: links share the blueprint, while progress stays on the current device.

How to make a Minecraft circle for your first tower

Use the 11×11 example for a compact footprint. If you came looking for a “circle Minecraft guide”, start by marking its center and four anchors. Place the first three rows from the example table, then check the reflected sides before continuing.

How to build a circle in Minecraft without recounting rows

Keep the blueprint open in Build Mode. Place the highlighted run, mark it complete and follow the next starting offset. If you mark the wrong run, use Undo immediately. Work through complete rows when mirroring a quarter would make it hard to keep your place.

How to create a circle in Minecraft with a filled floor

Use the same center and outside diameter as the walls, then choose Filled in the generator. Follow each full row across the disk. Check the new material total before building: the floor includes interior blocks that the thin outline leaves empty.

Where should a beginner start?

If your question is “how to make circle in Minecraft”, begin with the 11×11 outline: it has 28 blocks and one center block. Compare each completed row with the preview before moving on.

The answer to “Minecraft how to make a circle” uses the same sequence at larger sizes: center, anchors, row segments and a symmetry check. Increase the diameter only after you can follow a segment's offset and length without adding an extra starting block.

Use the circle generator

These instructions describe this tool's grid convention; other generators may choose different boundary blocks. Counts exclude temporary anchors, scaffolding and decorations. For the calculation method and export compatibility, read the blueprint measurement notes and the upstream Litematica project documentation.
